Pixeldust created the graphics package for A&E's Florida Heat, from Live PD producers Big Fish Entertainment.
The producers of the incredibly popular “Live PD”, Big Fish Entertainment, reached out to Pixeldust in need of a graphics package for their new show Florida Heat. The new law-enforcement show airing on A&E presents the direct correlation between crime rate and the scorching heat in Florida.
The work
Big Fish Entertainment, the producers of Live PD, asked Pixeldust for the graphics package for Florida Heat on A&E. The title has a double meaning, heat as temperature and as slang for police, so the graphics had to balance both, with bold colors, heat maps and police imagery that reflect Florida’s diverse regions.
The open sets the style for the whole show: bright, bold backgrounds celebrate Florida, from gator country to swamps and suburbs, punctuated by police imagery inspired by real encounters. A 2.5D parallax look flips each scene into the next like a pop-up book, ending on a sizzling title over a Florida beach.
Many encounters happen at night, so Pixeldust designed adjustable overlays that bring the extreme-heat theme into every scene and keep the style consistent across the show.
The full package also includes lower thirds to introduce key people and bumpers that carry the look into every commercial break.
