How do you get the whole world to fall in love with nature? For IUCN's LOVE #NatureForAll campaign, Pixeldust made a promo that moves from darkness to a heart-shaped Earth, now translated into more than forty languages.
#NatureForAll is a global movement created by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to inspire love of nature. It rests on a simple idea: the more people experience, connect with and share their love of nature, the more support and action there will be for its conservation. Those personal connections benefit health, well-being and resilience, and build lifelong support for parks, protected areas and global biodiversity and sustainable development goals.
After two hit promos for #NatureForAll, IUCN’s Commission on Education and Communication returned to Pixeldust for a third, the centerpiece of its 2021 LOVE #NatureForAll campaign.
The client had three requests. The video had to open in a dark tone that leads into the new LOVE theme, it had to look stylistically different from the previous two videos, and it needed a graphics package that made it easy to translate into multiple languages for an international audience.
Having worked on #NatureForAll before, the Pixeldust team quickly developed several motion graphics title concepts. Because the video was made for a global audience, the typeface had to support accented letters and stay legible while still looking sleek and beautiful.
As the video moves from a dark, ominous theme to a bright LOVE theme, Pixeldust used two font styles to mark the change of pace.
Pixeldust’s 3D animation expertise came into play in finding a way to express the LOVE theme. What could better represent the love of nature than a heart-shaped planet Earth? Drawing on years of experience creating 3D shots of Earth from space, the CGI team rendered the heart-shaped Earth from multiple angles.
Built to travel, the video has since been translated into more than forty languages, carrying the LOVE #NatureForAll message to audiences around the world. Its release came with a printable card game that teaches nature conservation in a fun, interactive way.
